the people started out a little later than usual...had to sleep in from the festivities on new years eve...

new traditions...

my world was turned upside down about a year and a half ago when my mom died and our Christmas' have been hard ever since...last year was really tough...we kinda all felt shaken up, sad and confused as to what to do on Christmas day because that was the day we spent with grandma...

since mom passing, God has reminded me to enjoy what is right in front of me...my family...my friends that REALLY care about me...but mostly my family...you never know what the next day holds...cherish the moment God gives you...

my auntie recently told me "it's okay to have new traditions" and that really stuck with me...i shared her advice with my husband and kids and we all went with it this year and had a great, great time!

we started out at one of our favorite places...the beach...went for a walk/run, headed over to stacey's for some breakfast, then home for presents, dinner and out to a movie...

it took a little convincing to shannan that is was okay not to open gifts first thing in the morning...

god is good and he was with us all day...i prayed on the beach and thanked him for all the many blessings he has given me and i thanked him for my family...

He gives and He takes away...but even when He takes away, He never leaves us...

if you don't know already, the groves flea {aka the irvine flea, ivc flea} has moved to the great park in irvine...

the great park is located off of sand canyon and marine...{the old tustin marine base}...follow the orange balloon in the sky!!!

all the regular groves flea vendors and more will be there...farmers market and food trucks...yum!!!

i'm looking forward to this new locale...hope to see you all there!!!

he just had his homecoming last weekend and we had a blast...he looked great, his date looked lovely and they were nothing but smiles!!!

it's so fun to see your kids have a great, healthy time in high school...taking part in the school events and just having a blast being a kid!

the getaway...

my husband and i celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in august and have been planning this road trip up north for a long time...we finially got to enjoy a week away from the everyday stuff of life and have some us time...our first stop was the alameda flea, just outside of san fran...we stayed at the anthony chabot campground...a great campground and we will definately be back...

the alameda flea was in an obscure place on alameda island, but it was super cool entering the flea...you drive down a runway to get there and the view of the city was amazing!

while steve and tim were loading, lisa was resting after a long day...

we followed tim around the island...through a tunnel, over some bridges, tim and lisa almost being hit by a train, and off to dinner and a great time at the harbor...

the houses were gorgeous...

the street signs have both english and chinese...

then, steve and i were off to bodega bay...for some walks on the beach, shell collecting and some shopping...we were hoping for some wine tasting, but ran out of time...

it was a blustery drive to bodega bay, but still lovely...

it was stormy all day, but when we got there, we had to check out the beach and it was gorgeous!

we went for a walk the next morning, and it was foggy and amazing...the sea life is wonderful...

we were there for two nights then off to pismo beach, where we hooked up with tim and lisa again to help them set up with remnants, do some shopping, eating, wine tasting and somemore shopping...

cayucos is one of my favs up north...cute shops, the people are super friendly...the brown butter cookie company is amazing and duckies has the best food...i had the best clams and beer {i think my favorite meal the whole trip} and the surf shop, good clean fun is the best!

friday, we met tim and lisa bright and early to help them set up for remnants of the past...the vendors at remnants are top notch...they all go over and above...the booths are amazing, everyone is so fun...we met a lot of great people and had a blast...

steve surprised me on friday and around noonish we left remnants, grabbed some lunch and was off to the j. lohr in paso robes...my favorite wine...had a great time wine tasting and picking out some great wines to bring home...

their fields are gorgeous!

we headed back to remnants...checked things out and chatted it up with everyone...steve took a lil nap...tim and lisa bought us some yummy eats from the amazing porters food truck...asian tacos, kenwood cab and bri, bacon and green apple grilled cheese...YUM!!! then, we were off to the madonna inn for champagne cake!!!

then, saturday morning we met up with tim and lisa again...got ready for the masses...

after we said our goodbyes we ran into these two lovebirds coming in the door...dean and rita escaped for the weekend...had fun chatting with them, then took off for the ride home...looking forward to spending some time with the kids...

we had a great time...love you steve...

i got a killer vintage rattan chair with hawaiiwan fabric from one of our neighbors for our family room!

it was a great day at the flea...the weather was kinda wierd, but another great day!

people were there early and out early to get home for some labor day bbqing,

the raindrops held off till most of us were gone...

we learned some sad news...next month might be the last month for the ivc flea at ivc college...

i won't be there in october...my husband and i are going on a road trip...

i will keep you posted as to where the next locale of the irvine flea might land...

the duncan phyfe went to a young couple that just got married...

i love selling my treasures to young couples that are just starting their life together...it's fun to see the look on their face...they get so excited!!!

it was hard to see it go cause it belonged to my mom, but it made me happy to see it go to a young couple that will enjoy it as much as we did...

it was a great day in long beach on sunday...

the vets flea was as crowded as ever with shoppers and buyers...

it was a little chilly, what am i saying...a lot chilly...but we had a great day!

i saw a lot of friends and met some new ones...

we even had a tori spelling sighting...hope she found a lot of great treasures...

the mirror was the hit of the day!

very cool 60's massage table...would be very cool out by the pool!

very sweet lil dresser sold first thing...

this lil desk did not last long either...

these vintage letters on the frogs were a HUGE hit...most of them sold out!

rockin old wicker chair and ottomon with a linen covered seat...only $85...

the feet even fold up...only $85...

my husband is very thoughtful...it was not always that way, but as the days turned into weeks, the weeks into months and the months into years...A LOT OF YEARS...

he has grown to be more thoughtful...

so, when he asked me what i wanted for christmas, i told him i would like to go away with him for a couple of days...

with life being busy for all...we could not get away until last week...

our first stop...

rose bowl flea and then the melrose trading post flea...

it's alway entertaining to drive through la...

then, he made reservations at the channel inn in santa monica...a very lovey b & b...it was so relaxing and fun to get away for a few days...

we shopped, ate and walked the beach...fun times!

the golden bull...an old school local hangout...the food is yummy!!!

3rd Street Promonade...great shopping...they even have lights in the parking garage to let you know where the vacant spots are...

shopping at the promenade at 3rd street provides rest and a lot of people watching...

super yummy food!!!

my husband made this great table from a model a wheel...it's super cool...

vintage casters...

old solid brass letters...there are three sizes...the largest ones are only $12.00 each...

i have a whole bunch of these old plastic marquee letters and numbers...only $3.50 each...

i got a whole new shipment of vintage doll heads!!!

the weather could not be better...

it was a lil chilly in the morning, but turned out to be a great day...

there were a lot of shoppers out there today...

our booth was especially lovely and a tad romantic...with the added beauty of janice's and debbie's treasures...

urban barn flea...

deb and i had a blast on friday...we left early in the morning...

had to stop at starbucks first of course,

and headed down south to the urban barn flea...

it looked lovely, as usual...the team of linda and linda did an amazing job...

we bought some treasures, hung out and helped with the customers for a bit and then headed out to hit some of our favorite spots for junkin...

and, of course our favorite salad...

then, off to temecula to see some of our favorites...

i took deb to granny's...she's never been!!!

we got home late and exhausted, with her truck full of treasures and a day of fun...

can't wait till the next day of junkin and fun!!!

i love vintage suitcases and every chance i get, i pick one up...even if i don't make much money, i love the way they look in my booth!

at chateau de fleurs in december, i had a sweet customer purchase a cool back one and she transformed it into her cash box...

i love seeing the transformation...creativity at it's best!

the before picture is on the left of this bench...it's the suitcase on the bottom...it was black and beat up...

this is the after picture...super cute and very useful...

although i'm a firm believer in not wishing your life away,

i'm glad to see 2010 go away...it's been a tough year for me personally, for my loved ones and friends.

we all know what is going on financially in our world...blah, blah, blah...

what about the matters of the heart???

for me and my family, it's been a tough one...

my mom left this world to be with jesus only six months ago and prior to that my husband lost his dad...i did not think that christmas was going to be this hard, but it was...for me and for my family...

dealing with all the emotions is hard enough when you loose someone you love so very much but to deal with all the JUNK that goes along with loosing someone you love, your emotions do flips, flops, twists and turns...

i tend to crawl up into that familiar ball and not reach out to the people that love me...hopefully, that will change in 2011 with a lot of prayer and work on my end...

my son had surgery on his knee four weeks ago and although that was a scary time, he is doing great and healing amaziningly...

my daughter is well...dealing with the loss of her grandma this year has been really tough on her, but she loves her job and is working really hard...

my husband is always working hard and trying hard to be a support system to me...we've been married for almost thirty years now and i look forward to spending some good times with him in 2011...he's had a tough year himself with the loss of his dad and the loss of my mom...

and to my friends that have dealt with trials, loss and illnesses...i hope and pray that your 2011 brings you joy in your heart and peace in your lives...

i don't really know what i've learned this year...i know god has taught me something but my head and my heart are still in a fog...i'm hoping to look back on 2010 and see that i've grown spiritually and learned whatever the lord has for me...i do know this...the lord will NEVER give me anything i can't handle {although i feel like i'm not handling things okay} and that HE LOVES ME {which i tend to forget}...

i'm looking forward to joy in my heart, and peace and content in my life as well...

i need to learn to forgive those that have hurt me and move on...

all in all, i'm looking forward to what 2011 has in store for my family...

shannan ran into a few of his friends...chad and jeff...

stacey was buying some glam converse...salvation had a cool christmas wreath made out of red converse...

even nordy is going industrial...

we were at the spectrum with the family last night...it was fun!

shannan had a little bit of a hard time manuevering through all the busy shoppers, but he did it!

we had a great dinner at cheesecake factory!

got a few gifts, but most of all spent some quality time with the family...
